A bespoke trampoline proves a wonderful addition to a special school’s new playspace environment.

Based in Swiss Cottage, North London, the Jack Taylor School is a day school for children and young people with severe or profound and multiple learning difficulties. With facilities that meet the needs of 60 attendees covering a myriad of areas including medical, sensory, physical, communication and behaviour, the highly committed staff dedicate their time to ensure that all children reach their full potential. Everyone thus leaves the school having received the widest opportunities for learning in a positive environment.

With Physical Education and Play a curriculum imperative, the Jack Taylor School recognised the importance of working with credible and experienced suppliers of play equipment. Dance, games and movement are all essential activities in terms of child development and the large, well equipped playground with an activity centre hosts both educational and fun time!

The newly installed sensory garden, which provides positive sensory stimulation for their special children, was officially opened by triple Bafta Award winning comedian Harry Hill and included the installation of a bespoke trampoline, a project which proved challenging and rewarding for suppliers eibe.

The original concept was to have floor trampolines brought in, but the car park below the school did not allow for the excavation of a sunken version. “eibe was able to meet our needs by researching possible ways to install a raised, rather than sunken, trampoline,” explained Assistant Head, Lucia Santi.

eibe Playspace Consultant David Wallis help to produce a tailor-made solution, a visually impactful piece of sports equipment offering easy stair access, as well as customised, vivid colours that were sympathetic to the surroundings and guaranteed to brighten up the children’s day-to-day routine.

Lucia summed up the overall satisfaction of the Jack Taylor staff: “We are thrilled with our new trampoline purchased from eibe. The service and installation were excellent and the team arrived promptly. The trampoline and enclosure were put up and made safe within a few hours. We were shown all the fittings and a safety check was carried out before the team left. Thank you for such a successful purchase. Our kids have been queuing up at every opportunity to jump!”
